Toolbar and edit links disappear after domain name change
-
I recently changed the domain settings on bestsdemo.wordpress.com to use the custom domain firstchoicecleaningcontractors.com (registered elsewhere). Since changing the domain name, the toolbar and Edit links do not display while I am viewing the site while logged in. This only occurs on Firefox, which is the main browser I have used while working on the site. The toolbar and Edit links appear on other browsers.
I have deleted all cookies, cleared browser cache, quit and re-launched Firefox, etc. I have tried both URLs for the site. Still no toolbar or Edit links.
What should I do next?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Correction to the last line above: It should read, “The blog I need help with is firstchoicecleaningcontractors.com.”

Hi,
I recently changed the domain settings on bestsdemo.wordpress.com to use the custom domain firstchoicecleaningcontractors.com (registered elsewhere). Since changing the domain name, the toolbar and Edit links do not display while I am viewing the site while logged in. This only occurs on Firefox
I’m looking at the site, here’s what I see: https://cloudup.com/cCijBGT63ys
Are these the edit links you’re referring to, next to the post or in the Toolbar menu?
Do you have any extensions installed in Firefox? It might be worth turning those off if so, to see if that makes a difference.

Thanks for your reply, Evan. Yes, your screenshot shows exactly the links I’m referring to. I tried disabling all extensions and restarting Firefox, but the links still do not show. They show in other browsers, and they also show in the same copy of Firefox when I sign in to my computer as a different user. So it’s clearly something in my user data. I had already cleared cookies and browser cache. I don’t know how to clear anything else except browsing history, which I really don’t want to do. Maybe it’s something related to DNS since the issue occurred when I changed the domain name?
In any case, it’s not a huge problem for me because I’m almost ready to turn control of this particular site over to someone else. It may not be worth troubleshooting any further, but I wanted to report the issue.

Hi there,
Usually, if that admin bar doesn’t show up at the top of the page when your site is using a custom domain, it’s because third-party cookies aren’t enabled in your browser. (Those third-party cookies make sure you stay logged in to your WordPress.com account on sites using custom domains.)
If you head over to our Preview Problems and Third Party Cookies page, it will check to see if your browser’s third-party cookies are enabled and provide tips for enabling them.
If you’d like more help with that, or if that doesn’t fix it up for you, please let me know. :)

Thank you rachelmcr, that was the ticket! I made an exception in my Firefox privacy settings for wordpress.com to allow third party cookies, and now I see the admin bar and other admin links.
