Toolbar disappeared in wordpress pages / posts

    I bought a domain and hosting service recently and downloaded wordpress. I am new to wordpress – although have used it in the past for adding pages and content to an already developed site. I want to start my own site now, but very early on have run into a problem.

    The pages / posts, display both visual and html editor options, but the toolbar for the visual tab is not visible anymore. How can I get this back. I have gone through previous forum posts and followed advice of clearing cache, unchecking the box for visual editor in user profile. But nothing is working.

    I am lost before even getting started. Can someone help me find a solution for this please? (I have searched endlessly for answers.)
