tooltiptext

    I have a Tasmanian native plant botanical site and have started to use tooltiptext to show layman’s words for botanical terms. The first tooltiptext in a plant species is preceded by two line spaces. Thereafter for that species the wording is continuous after the following tooltiptext(s). Any ideas how I can stop the two line spacing? PLEASE?

  • Hi,

    What plugin are you using to create your tool tips?

    I have done the following as recommended by my old Webmaster:
    1. in my dashboard, I went to Appearances: Themes., Clicked on the “customise” link on the active theme (Astra)

    2.. when the customiser menu appeared, clicked on “additional css” at the bottom

    3.. in the box that opened, pasted the following:

    .tooltip {
    position: relative;
    display: inline-block;
    background-color: #FFFF00;}

    .tooltip .tooltiptext {
    visibility: hidden;
    width: 250px;
    background-color: white;
    color: #000;
    text-align: left;
    border-radius: 6px;
    padding: 5px 0;

    /* Position the tooltip */
    position: absolute;
    z-index: 1;}

    .tooltip:hover .tooltiptext {
    visibility: visible;}

    4.. Clicked on “publish” at the top of the customiser menu, then closed the customiser

    My Webmaster has offered a suggestion but that has not worked.
    Which plugin do you suggest?

  • Hi there,

    I do not see any sites under your @tasmanianflora WordPress.com account when I check on our end. You can confirm by visiting this page: https://wordpress.com/sites.

    Is it possible you created your site under a different login instead? What is the URL of the site you are needing help with?

    Happy to check in our system so we can take a closer look.

    Hi staff-totoro,
    My site is http://www.tasmanianflora.org
    Home page is https://tasmanianflora.com/#Home The page I am having problems with is https://tasmanianflora.com/m-p-2/ and my Webmaster who set up the site for me tried to fix the problem by editing in the text box. However, that has caused all but the top species to be continuous text and in the text all the <br> have disappeared and the stacked photos have been cleared unlike the top species which I reloaded from my text file.
    Hope we can solve this problem.
    If I go to https://wordpress.com/sites it asks me to start a new WordPress site. Is this my entry into WordPress to get an account? In which case, do I start with tasmanianflora.com?
    Best regards,
    Bruce Champion

  • Hi there,

    The best place to get help with that is to post in the official WordPress.org support forums:

    https://wordpress.org/support/forums/

    The forum you have posted is for the WordPress.com hosting platform, which is different than the WordPress software that your site is using. You can learn more about these differences here:
