Top bar above navigation

Hi, I am creating a site using the Gutenberg block editor. Is there any way to add a top bar above the title and navigation like the one listed: https://massagetherapy.com.pk/. It will have phone number, an email and maybe address. I do not want to use a plugin or widget. I have tried with 3 columns at the top but it is really difficult to center the text on smaller devices. Also Is there also a way of making this top bar not sticky while the header is sticky?

Hi there, if you’re using a block theme this is possible via the site editor (yourdomain.com/wp-admin/site-editor.php) . You’ll need to modify your templates (click “templates”, select whichever template you want to edit, and click the pencil icon to edit the template).

Once you’re in the editor you can add a block above the “header” and this will appear on all pages using the template. If you want the header to be sticky you should be able to select the header when editing the template and set position to sticky in the right sidebar/inspector.

Hello, thanks you for your reply. Good to hear that it is possible with just the block editor. I am however having problems using columns and rows as a combination as both and rows throws my alignment out. Example I am using 2 columns, and in the second column making a row with telephone and email. However on mobiles the first unused column is still visible, pushing the second block down. Is there any example of the top bar being made? Many thanks

So I am finding that deleting the first unused column moves the rest of the content to the left.

  • Hi there,

While we are happy to offer general advice, I’d like to clarify that our ability to troubleshoot and assist you with these issues is quite limited because your site is not hosted on our WordPress.com managed hosting. This platform allows us direct access to your set up for better troubleshooting and issue resolution, but we do not have access to sites on other providers such as your site on Cloudflare DNS.

To bring your site under our direct care, you can consider migrating your website using our easy-to-use migration plugin. This will allow you full access to our comprehensive in-house WordPress support and enable us to take a closer look at your layout issue.

If a migration isn’t on the table just yet, there’s still support available for you from the WordPress community at large. Particularly, the community support forums for the open-source version of WordPress are a great resource. They have a wealth of experience and are better equipped to help troubleshoot issues for sites with your particular setup. You can reach the forums here:

I hope this helps and best of luck with finding resolution to your issue. If you would like to discuss our migration options and platform advantages in more detail we’re happy to help. Thanks!
