Top bar changed – How to create a post????

  • Unknown's avatar

    The top bar on the page normally has a few buttons on it to let me click and do a new posting. Where had it gone? I can’t find the spot to just create a new post.

    The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    And, since I can’t edit a post here in the Forum, I’d like to add that there are just two areas of the dark bar that produce any response on mouse-over: far left and far right. The drop-down does not mention “new post”.

    I know, it’s bizarre. What’s the Admin bar for if not to Administer your blog through basic functions like Add New Post?

    Anyway, if you look on the far right-hand side you’ll see your username and icon. Hover over that and there’s a drop-down menu. Select the blog you want to post to and it should have ADD New.

    There are still two “add new” links for posts now.
    One in the new drop-down on the right hand side under our avatar/gravatar.
    One in the far left column in the Posts module drop-down (Admin page).

    Oh for crying out loud! I agree it is terminally bizarre to have to mouse-over one spot and THEN drop down to mouse-over yet another spot., Whoever designed that one ought to be forced to use it every hour for the next two years.

    Thanks for the input, Raincoaster.

    I know- it is sooo irritating that they just change things without notifying us. I have several different blogs I am on. They no long just list down in a mouse over either. I have to go to the WordPress icon & press it. Sometimes my blogs all pop up, but sometimes I am brought to the Word Press general site. If that happens, I have to press My Blogs to get to them. THEN I have to select a tiny menu item under them, which doesn’t include a NEW POST option. THEN, I have to go to the blog by clicking the blog title and THEN I have to mouse over the blog name and THEN mouse over the NEW menu item and THEN click on POST after NEW.

    It used to be so easy. Why this change? Who knows. But this is what I have to do. Hope it helps you create a new post.

    Another question: I can no longer REPLY to comments from the Comment section of the Dashboard. It is just missing today. Anyone else having this issue? Also, my stats won’t show up as a bar chart- just the Word Press icon twirling & twirling! Anyone else w/ this issue?

    Definitely nutty way to run a railroad. I’ve finally managed to get started on my next entry. The change made things an order of difficulty HARDER. I wonder who thought it would make things easier:

    deyank, timethief is right- you have to use the far upper right menu now- not the left. The right handed one has all that we need to navigate all our blogs. Just wish we had received some kind of notification!

    Yea and verily, it is true. Thank you Timethief (and SusanShannel99) for that info. I now find that if I am not on my own blog page I see nothing but the two widely spaced icons. It is only when I go back to my own blog that the other buttons magically appear. I liked it much better where I could create a blog from anywhere in WP I happened to be.

    @deyank
    You’re welcome from me. There are others who are annoyed about this Admin bar change as well. I gave up being annoyed after the first day had passed, as I don’t think it’s my emotional responses are likely to make any difference, and as I make the choice to be happy on free hosting knowing that many unexpected changes may occur at any time.
