Top Blogs have Ads??
-
Ok, please don’t get snotty here. I know a lot of people ask about ads. I’ve read all the forums and FAQ about ads and I understand the wordpres.com is different than wordpress.org and here, we don’t allow ads (for now). I get it and that’s cool by me (for now).
I’m SO new to blogging but I don’t understand how the top blogs listed on wordpress.com have ads all over them. They say they are powered by wordpress. I’m sure it’s a long techie sort of answer but I’d appreciate the insight since it seems to counter what your many forums and FAQ’s directed at “NO ADS” are saying. -
Ok, I read the REALLY long thread – that had a ton of really frustrated people going back and forth – and I get it. Ignore me. Hope you all haven’t blown up with frustration by now.

Please read the FAQs and use the forum searchbox before posting.
From the FAQs http://faq.wordpress.com/2005/12/08/adsense/
From the forum searchbox https://en.forums.wordpress.com/search.php?q=adsenseIn a nutshell once you have read the pertinent information you will have two answers.
(1) WordPress.com runs adsense on our blogs and,
(2) VIP bloggers who pay $600. per setup and $300. per month are allowed to have ads.If you would like to try and qualify for VIP hosting here’s the link http://wordpress.com/vip-hosting/

I’m not in the least frustrated. I put up with people who fail to read the FAQs and who fail to use the forum searchbox everyday.

With their traffic, they can leave and go somewhere else which WordPress or any business wouldn’t want. That’s why they’re allowed to do what they want.

This issue is resolved and expessing opinions on it will only lead to more folks posting to get their 2 cents in on what amounts to a policy issue. The way I understand it, we only need to answer the questions and that’s been done.
