Top CSS snippets and tips
-
Howdy,
I’d like to add an entry to the FAQ with some examples of CSS snippets for use with WordPress.com themes. Common and easy requests in particular: changing text colors, adding a background, that sort of thing.
So: what are your suggestions for tips that ought to be included?

I’d like to see a brief and concise statement about what cannot be done with css. I have noted bloggers think that they can edit templates and alter functionality. Many do not seem to understand that what can be done is alter the appearance only.
(1) changing background colours
(2) inserting an image as a background
(3) changing font styles, colours, and sizes for text and headings
(4) inserting customized header images into css
(5) time based header images that change (eg. day and night)
(6) covering up “no comments”
(7) covering up “footer links”
(8) adding a tagline
(9) altering date, time and author display styles -

It’s probably only feasible to list examples of those 10 things for the Sandbox theme, does that seem reasonable?
Does anyone have specific CSS examples of clever tricks or common tweaks for other themes?
