Top menu disappeared in K2-lite theme

A couple of days ago the menu disappeared—no changes had been made to the menu visibility, etc. and everything worked fine before that.
Could someone look into this? Thank you!
BTW, there was a similar question, with similar timing, about a different theme recently:

That issue has been addressed on the other theme by Staff. Are you aware that you are running a very old retired theme that does not support all wordpress.COM features? The recommendation is to switch themes and that’s easy to do. I suggest you try switching to a newer theme and see if your issue disappears when you do that.
re: changing themes
Themes are just “skins” on WordPress.COM hosted blogs. You can quickly and easily change themes on any WordPress.COM hosted blog to another theme found here http://wordpress.com/themes/ and no data will be lost or negatively affected by the change. The only time you may have to do some work is if you are changing to a dramatically different theme and have done any CSS editing.Provided you are logged in as Admin under the same username account that registered the blog go to Dashboard > Appearance > Themes, Browse themes until you find one you like and click the “activate” or the “preview” link, or type in the name of the theme you want to use when it appears.
The theme customizer https://en.support.wordpress.com/customizer/ provides a preview function for exactly that purpose ie. so you can view what a theme will appear like prior to changing one.

Yes, perhaps it’s time to change the theme, which was a legacy and not a priority to update—until now, apparently!

Thanks for this report – we are investigating and will let you know as soon as it’s fixed.
The issue only appears to affect the default menu; creating a custom menu would be a workaround to get it to appear: https://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/
We’ll keep you posted when a fix is in place.

Thank you! It is time to update the theme (^_^) but this workaround saves the day in the meantime.

Glad the workaround did the trick.
Perhaps this is the nudge you need to update your theme to a more modern, responsive one. ;)
