top posts text widget
-
I’m trying to configure a text widget with my blog’s top posts (because the top posts widget includes pages, which messes it up). How do I get the link text to be the same font as the other links in my sidebar? Is there a way to put a space between my links rather than having them all run together in one line?

I’ll try to put the widget back up as it was so you can see the problem

Okay, thanks.
While you’re doing that, please also adjust your user name so your blog address shows up with it. If you do not hear from me then others in the forum should be able to help you out with your question. Here’s how you can add your blog address to your name:
2. How to make your name link to your blog:
Go into your dashboard -> users -> your profile -> then scroll down to ‘contact info’. In the spot where it says ‘website’ fill in the address of your blog and save the changes.
Now… when you comment here and on other blogs, your name will link to your blog. If you do this before you post your request for help, it will allow forum volunteers to be able to help you quicker since they won’t have to ask you for a link and wait until you come back to post one. -
“Because the top posts widget includes pages”. I beg your pardon?
To have text display in the same color and font as the rest of your sidebar items, you can use this code:
<div style="font-family:palatino;color:#660000;">TEXT_HERE</div>
The div tag will also create line breaks. Otherwise you can use the break tag:

Thanks, that worked perfectly.
By “the top posts widget includes pages,” I meant that when I use the existing top posts widget, it includes the pages with the most views in addition to the posts. So my #1 “top post” was actually my About page, which wasn’t what I was going for.
Thanks again.

That’s a good point, Vivian. List coding will take care of line separation PLUS give you indentation similar to the rest of the sidebar lists.
So, benconniff, an improved solution:
<ul style="font-family:palatino;color:#660000;"> <li>ITEM_ONE_HERE</li> <li>ITEM_TWO_HERE</li> [ETC.] </ul> -
Do you need the style in there at all? I never put that in and it inherits it from the CSS file.

Sorry: my 5:12 post was badly worded, and I made a second mess hastily trying to explain which part of your remark it referred to!
The OP’s question was how to have text in a text widget be the same font and color as the rest of the sidebar items in Quentin. Plain text in Quentin won’t be rust-colored, like links are, but black – hence my suggestions.
