TOS violation/help claiming URL/username from squatter
-
I work for the social network imeem, running marketing and PR. We’re in the process of setting up our corporate blog on WordPress, and I noticed that someone who’s not affiliated with imeem has set up a blog at http://imeem.wordpress.com. This blog has just two entries and serves solely to redirect visitors to a site called SoundLantern.com.
The name imeem is a registered trademark of imeem, inc. Unauthorized use of the name imeem is a violation of our trademarks, and more importantly, a clear violation of WordPress’ Terms of Service (see below).
As such, we’d like to claim the imeem.wordpress.com URL/WordPress username. Can you please let me know what we need to do to start that process?
<snip> from WordPress ToS:
• your blog is not named in a manner that misleads your readers into thinking that you are another person or company. For example, your blog’s URL or name is not the name of a person other than yourself or company other than your own;

I would also suggest contacting staff directly via http://suppport.wordpress.COM/contact/ as I’m sure they are not going to discuss this in the open forum.

And sites that exist solely to redirect people to external sites are also flagged for suspension. YOu can hit “Report As Spam” under “Blog Info” when you’re looking at that blog signed in; those options are on your admin bar at the top of the page.

There is no need to post more than once, either. The answer is basically the same; contact staff
