Total Cost of Running WP Site

    I’m looking to start a new site through WP, and I want to make sure I’m getting an accurate look at the costs.

    So, I need a domain, hosting, and email. If I’m understanding correctly, I can get domain and hosting through WP at about $20 per year, is that correct? Is that just an intro rate for the first year, or is that a flat rate for every year (assuming prices don’t increase)?

    Then, I can go through Zoho using that domain for free, correct?

    So essentially, I should be able to have a website with a custom domain hosted and custom email addresses for only $20 per year? Then, if I want to upgrade to premium themes or have more storage, that’d cost more, right?

    Hi –

    WordPress.com sites are hosted here, and you would not need to purchase additional hosting. You can sign up and use a free domain here at WordPress.com. Free domains look like this (your-site-name.wordpress.com). If you do not want to have .wordpress as part of your domain, you can upgrade to a custom domain, that looks like this (your-site-name.com OR your-site-name.net, etc…) starting at $18/annually.

    If you wanted you could upgrade your plan from the FREE plan to Premium or Business depending on what your need are. More on that here:

    You are able to create your entire site right here at WordPress.com. You would not need to use Zoho.

    Hi!
    Thanks for the info! I guess I should have specified: can I use Zoho for my email addresses using the website I have through WP? So if I have mysite.com through WP, can I go to Zoho and get free email addresses like (email visible only to moderators and staff)?

    Yes, you can go to Zoho and get a free email address with your domain from WP. If you are not sure how, you can check out this Support Doc:

    Read about email forwarding here:

    You can set up a custom email address to forward to an email that you already have.

    For example if your name were John, you could use (email visible only to moderators and staff) and it would forward to whatever email you set it to forward to.
