Track Donations on WordPress Site
-
Hi there,
I want to add a plugin or widget to my WordPress site, but am now just learning that there is a difference between WordPress.com and WordPress.org and that I can’t use plugins on my WordPress.com site. Ugh.
Is there anything I can do with my current set up to display/track donations? We are fundraising and want to show progress to our goal.
If not, how hard is it to switch to the WordPress.org where everything is self-hosted? I actually have a full hosting package through my domain registrar.
Help?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi Jennifer,
You can certainly add a widget to your sidebar to collect donations via PayPal, but the tracking function you require can only be attained by installing a plugin on a self-hosted site.
It’s excellent news that you already have a hosting package at your domain registrar. That will make a move simpler.
As long as you follow the steps outlined in the guide below, I think you’ll find the process of moving to be simple.

As we only support sites hosted here at WordPress.com, all issues with the new site – including the importing of the file – must be taken to the WordPress.org support community:
If you’d like assistance moving your WordPress.com site to WordPress.org, we have a service called Guided Transfer that does all the work for you. Check it out to see if its right for you:
