Trackback doesn’t work

The fault is not here.If trackbacks were broken, the forums would be very noisy about it. So they are not.

I have a above post letting you all know that my track backs aren’t working either.I’ll add it here to make things easier on all. :)[On my latest blog post, track backs didn’t work either. Now two of the sites I attempted to send track backs to, I had sent track backs to before. And they always have worked in the past. This began yesterday Dec 6. First time I’ve ever had a problem.
They still show in the track back box. But do not show as any listing of pings as they usually do.It is if they are stuck there.]I have clicked on edit and then re-posted, have changed the time stamp bumping it up to today, and have deleted the track back url’s then re-added them to the box, re-booted my comp, cleared cache and they are still stuck.
I just visited one of the blog sites that I always send track backs to, which is one that is not receiving them from one of my posts dated yesterday. I had attempted to send two.I looked through the track backs that she did receive and one is from a word.press.com blog. Albeit not one of the exact posts I track backed to but it is dated yesterday (12/6)

This problem appears to affect specific blogs, which is perhaps why more people aren’t mentioning it here. After submitting feedback, I was advised to try tracking back to and from the Test Track blog. While the trackback from there showed up fine on my blog, a trackback from my blog did not show up there (nor was it in the moderation queue, or marked as spam).

If you have a problem please state from which post you sent the trackback.
Many people do this wrong so before I start asking the guys to investigate I need to see what has gone wrong.

Mark, if you’re the same Mark who e-mailed me, I e-mailed you back with the precise URLs of posts and trackbacks and which ones did and didn’t work. If there’s any other information I can give, please let me know.

@mark: i can understand why zou assume at first that the user did something wrong, but in my case i already did some successful trackbacks. and my newest posts also contain some trackback to other & different sites and it still seems as if the trackback does not work. the only other solution not concerning wordpress.com could be that for some reason my posts are filtered as spam or so by the blogs i trackback to.

I have previously sent track backs to the exact same sites that aren’t receiving them now (and they worked). One on a regular basis. Both familiar with my blog and I. They either post comments on my blog or link to mine or both, as I do on their’s.
The track back url’s are stuck in the track back field box. No listing of any successful pings sent, as per usual. This is the first time I have ever had any trouble. I usually send track backs out with every posting,to several various blogs successfully.BTW I have sent a test track back to

I do not know what it looks like on your end, but once again the track back is stuck in the track back box and no ping list shows.

Ok well the track back went through to the Test Track blog.
But the ones I tried to send to other sites previously, still haven’t. Nor have any since. I do not understand. What am I doing wrong? They always have worked before. :( -
This is one of the fantastically irritating problems that affects only a few people.
It is being investigated…

Thank you so very much Mark! :) I love Word Press and all you do for us! I understand what you all go through, as I am a staff member on a large forum help site. Frustrating at times but also rewarding.

My trackbacks won’t work since severals days too. i testet ist several times with another not-wordpress.com-blog but the outgoing trackbacks disappear. Incoming trackbacks work fine.

Please bear in mind that if you send trackbacks to another blog – any blog – then spam catchers could grab them, they could be deleted because spammer use trackbacks a lot, they could have other reasons why.
I think there is a fault that affects a really tiny number of people but it is not always a fault here.
Use the Test blog linked to before and try there.
And your trackback to that blog does not work, and you have checked moderation there then send a feedback.
But you must include the name of the post you sent the trackback from – without that I can do nothing. -
I’d testet the Trackback Function with the Testblog and other Blogs. But it dosen’t work since 2 or 3 Days.

I now tried to ‘trackback’ the trackbacks of my blog. The result was that from December the 1st the trackbacks to some blogs either did not work anymore or the trackback took extremely long to go out (I interpreted the trackback as gone out when the ‘already-pinged-list’ was there).
After that day the only trackback working was the one to the Test Blog and this also took some time to go out. All other trackbacks to different blogs didn’t seem to work.
I trackbacked quite often to golem.de so I wrote to their support a 2nd time and they told me they don’t have any wordpress.com trackback requests in their logs! As far as I understood them they even looked for the domain “wordpress.com”.
Thus I am asking here if any other german speaking blogger has problems to trackback to golem.de. -

Trackbacks waren bis vor kurzem generell kein Problem. Eben erst seit einigen Tagen funktioniert bei mir keine einzige Trackbackanfrage mehr. Darunter auch Golem. Aber ich glaube, dass das Problem bei wordpress.com liegt.
Für die Übergangszeit würde ich dieses Tool für Trackbacks versuchen.

I know there has been a lot of reporting on this, and several days ago, in response to my communication to the staff, I received an email that work was being done on the issue. My problem continues; people link to my site and I do not know it. Today I found a link on iluv2prshim.wordpress.com, and although her link works perfectly,it does not show up on my site. I’m only reporting now, not to be impatient, but in case it is not known that the problem continues, at least for some people.
I sincerely appreciate all the help that is offered.

Any word? As my track backs are still not in working order. :(

As you can see there is one visible for HotAir. I’d like to point out that they have always accepted and listed track backs I have sent to them.

I seem to be getting the same problem. Pings from one blog post to another that would normally show up are not doing it. I’d better drop a feedback too.
