Trackback doesn’t work

I sometimes have trouble trackbacking to Cato Unbound, and I am this month:

Both entries have a trackback set for the referenced Cato Unbound entry, but neither is showing up. I have an e-mail in to them following up, but this isn’t the first time it has happened, so I thought I would post here.

There must have been a hangup at the other end of my trackbacks ’cause they both popped up within the last couple of minutes. I didn’t think they were moderated, and I’m still not sure whether they are or not. Anyway, I did include the address to my posts, and I was following up on moderation, and I know sometimes trackbacks work and sometimes they don’t (’cause it’s happened to me in the past). In other words, I had read the post. No need to bust out the caps lock.

If you had read the thread, you would have sent in the information via feedback. If I bring out the caps locks, I do it for a reason.

My trackbacks aren’t working either. I can receive trackbacks from other sites, but I can’t “ping” anybody. My links nicely separated by spaces just sit there in the trackback box and don’t go anywhere.

Normally trackbacks are sent when you click publish so if the post is published the trackbacks are too. Send a feedback into Mark if this isn’t happening for you. -

Does other people have problems just getting the trackbacks, or also sending them? And what about the automatic ping? Mine has not worked for a while.

Re: trackbacks. Please read Mark’s instruction in this thread and follow them. If you have not sent a feedback in to staff to notify them of these problems you are still experiencing these problems then I suggest that you do.

I sent in a feedback with the link to a post showing my links sitting there in my trackback box unpinged, and I have not heard back. I also commented about it up there on 1/11. My pings still don’t work and haven’t for a long time. I can receive trackbacks but I can’t send them.

Telling forum volunteers can’t affect a happy ending only communication with staff can. :( I do believe that they are working on this and perhaps staff will post to this thread and let us know how it’s going. I’d also suggest that it’s been a long time and sending a follow-up feedback to notify them that you still have this problem wouldn’t be out of line.

I am also running into trackback issues. My issue is when I put the trackback URL and click “save” (on an already published post), it times out. If I open a new post and try to trackback and publish it from there, it times out. The post still appears, but no trackbacks appear.

I am having the same problem with trackbacks. The urls just sit in the trackback box after saving. I have tried trackbacking about 5 sites now and I get the same thing.
Really weird, I could have sworn these were working before.

Volunteers on the forum do not have back-end access to blogs and cannot help you. Please read the thread again and use the procedure that Mark laid out for testing your trackbacks.

I just sent a trackback to the test blog Mark posted. Nothing in moderation. The Url just sits in the box after I save. This was my post:

Please communicate with Mark about this by way of feedback. Volunteers on the forum have no back-end access and cannot help you. :)

Yes, I’m feeling the loss of trackbacks, too, among other things, as a matter of courtesy to other bloggers. In some instances I’ve resorted to posting a list of links in a comment and then clicking on them, just to alert other bloggers that I’m responding to their posts, but that’s not really a satisfactory solution at all.

Our feedback buttons do not work on weekends. This is because staff have the forums on rss feeds and only attend to urgrnt matter. Please send your feedback in on Monday understanding that a quick fix is not at hand.

why?
