TrackBack – How to Add to Another Blog
-
How do I trackback? I want to leave my blog’s address on other blogs where I comment.
I see listings for trackbacks on these other blogs and never see my blog listed there. So… how do I trackback? How do I leave one?I have short term memory problems, and get confused, so if you write as clearly as though you were writing a shopping list, I would appreciate it.

You did not specify a blog address or reason for posting when you created this topic.
This support forum is for blogs hosted at WordPress.com. If your question is about a self-hosted WordPress blog then you’ll find help at the WordPress.org forums.
If you don’t understand the difference between WordPress.com and WordPress.org, you may find this information helpful.
If you forgot to include a link to your blog, you can reply and include it below. It’ll help people to answer your question.
This is an automated message.

the Org forums do not exist. It’s just a wall of text, like listening to Bolero with a throbing radioactive headache.
I am sure I am asking something simple that anyone can answer. And once I get used to handling it myself, even I will be able to answer. So I am keeping my question here.
I use WordPress 3.3.1 (if this makes any difference).
-
It does.
For blogs using WordPress 3.3.1 you need to be at the WordPress.org forums. We’re not even ALLOWED to answer WP.org questions here.
Didn’t we just spend about forty question and answers answering this anyway?

“We’re not even ALLOWED to answer WP.org questions here.”
That is new information to me.
So, does my wordpress.com blog, http://rpgenglishexpatspoland.wordpress.com allow for trackbacks?
ps. we have discussed changing my name’s link to the blog where I contribute. And we concluded that exchange, for which I am grateful.
Now we are talking about leaving trackbacks to my blog. Is there something I need to do at the other blog, for example? Is there something I need to set up on my blog, for example? Is the wordpress software broken, for example?
-
I cannot find the version of wordpress on my wordpress.com blog.
Should I assume it is the newest version of WordPress? That would be 3.3.1 if so.
-
No. WordPress.Com is totally separate from WordPress.org.
You cannot leave trackbacks simultaneously to your WP.com and your WP.org blogs. They are different things. The link on your username can only go to one place at a time.
If you are talking about pingbacks, those are left when you write a blog post that links to the other blog AND the other blog allows pingbacks. You have no control over the latter.
-
Ok, maybe my programming nonclenmature is wrong. I am cool with that. It’s a process of communication here.
So, when I write a post on my blog with a link to another blog, that blog gets notified? This is a pingback (?)
And my blog get listed at the other place as a trackback..? (if the other blog allows pingbacks)
Do I have to turn on anything to allow this process from my end? (IF so what is the nonclementure of what I must turn on?)
-
If this is the blog you are talking about, we can’t help with that. http://www.vecol.net/RPGPL
Which blog do you want to link FROM to the other blogs?
Which blog do you want linked to your username?
-
I suppose if I understand one,
http://rpgenglishexpatspoland.wordpress.com
I will understand the other. So it does not matter to me.
