Trackbacks & Pingbacks

Ever since WP was “updated” a few days ago, my pingbacks/trackbacks aren’t working like they did before. I’m not sure if it’s the trackback or the pingback as I get them confused. But when I’m doing a new post and I link to another post within my blog and publish it, I do not get the trackback/pingback in my COMMENTS anymore to approve like I used to before. But before the WP “update” these were working just fine. Can someone please look into this for me? Thanks.

Hmm. That’s weird.
Did the trackback/pingbacks stop showing up all together, or did you just stop getting e-mails about them?
Here are a couple of things to check:
1) Go to Settings>Discussion on your dashboard and make sure the top two boxes ( “Attempt to notify any blogs linked to from the article” and
“Allow link notifications from other blogs (pingbacks and trackbacks)”) are still checked.2) on the same page, check the “E-mail me whenever” and “before a comment appears” sections to make sure all the settings are the way you like them.
3) Click “comments” on your dashboard and then click “spam” at the top of the page to see if your recent trackbacks got stuck in the spam filter.
If none of that resolves the issue let me know and we’ll try something else.

Everything is fine in my Discussion settings like always. I had this same problem last time there were “updates/changes” to WP and someone there was able to “fix” it. Just fyi–today I made a typo change on my last post and the trackback or pingback all of a sudden showed up in my “Comments” area—and I approved it. Why would it come through on my Comments for me to approve only after I make a change to the post a few days later and republish/update it again, but not show up in my Comments to approve right away as soon as the post is first published as it has in the past?? Thanks for looking into this.

yeah, that’s weird. I’ll tag this for staff assistance in case, as you suggested, something happened related to the update.
