Tracking blog users…ISP
-
Hi there,
I just opened up a new blog yesterday and I would like to find out where my visitors are coming from (regionally). Is there a way to track this?
Thanks for your help!

Not on WordPress.com unless they happen to leave a comment. But we can’t tell if you’re really on WP.com without a direct link to your blog, starting with http.

Thanks for that. We generally need a link to ensure our answers apply to you; you might want to link your blog to your name following instructions in the 8 Things post at teh top of the main forum page. It’ll save time and publicize your blog too.
And yes, you won’t be able to IP track users on a WP.com blog unless they leave a comment. But you CAN blog particular IPs if you want.

You can get IP information from statcounter or activemeter, but you cannot use the full javascript version of them, you have to use the plain HTML version which will limit what you get.

I think the limited versions don’t give you IP information, though, that’s the issue. At least, I’ve never seen it on sitemeter.

You don’t get the full IP address on sitemeter, rain, but you get some of it. For example, this is my most recent visitor (copied from details):
205.149.72.# -
The OP might want to try Activemeter, since I think they show the entire IP address I’m pretty sure. It’s been a long time since I’ve used it, so I might be wrong though. It doesn’t cost anything to try it and see.

Here’s the website; the directions are pretty easy to follow. Good luck!
