Tracking code

I have a wordpress.org site using twenty twelve. I don’t have access to plug-ins or editor (don’t know why). I want to add tracking code to my site. Is it possible?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi Hannah,
At WordPress.com, we don’t allow plugins or access directly to the code (via the Editor), due to security and stability concerns. It’s the tradeoff we have for keeping everything running at top speed with virtually no downtime.
For plugins or custom code, you’ll need to use your own hosting provider using WordPress.org software.
For more details on the difference between WordPress.com and the WordPress.org software see WordPress.com and WordPress.org.
Depending on the tracking code, you’ll likely not be able to use it on WordPress.com (if it contains a “script”, “embed” or “iframe” tag).
If you have any questions or need anything else, please let me know. Thanks!

I have a related issue. I published this site on 13 November and it still does not appear in search engines? Is this just a matter of waiting until it does, or am I missing something. Thanks, Hannah

Hi,
It’s up to Google and other search engines to index each site. Checking on Google, it does have your site indexed: https://www.google.com/search?q=site%3Awhycarehomesdonthavetocare.wordpress.com&oq=site%3Awhycarehomesdonthavetocare.wordpress.com&aqs=chrome..69i57j69i58.5568j0j7&sourceid=chrome&espv=210&es_sm=91&ie=UTF-8
Each search engine will rescan your site on a regular basis and update the results that folks will see.
If you have any questions or need anything else, please let me know. Cheers!

Related to the index of the site can I control the text that appears in the search. At the moment it consists of the first sentence “THE BUSINESS OF CARE Care for the elderly has become big business and there has been a huge increase in the number of privately owned care home …” Can I change this, and if so how? Many thanks!

Hi there,
Search engines generate that text automatically, so there isn’t a way to directly control it. Here’s what Google has to say about it:
Google’s generation of page titles and descriptions (or “snippets”) is completely automated and takes into account both the content of a page as well as references to it that appear on the web. The goal of the snippet and title is to best represent and describe each result and explain how it relates to the user’s query.
You can read more about that here: https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/35624?hl=en
I hope this information helps! :)
