Tracking followers and using Google Friend connect

I am currently trying to set up a widget (I guess) that will display “google friend connect” on the sidebar of my blog. I can’t find any step by step instructions. I did get a CSS code from google friend connect but I had no idea where to put it!
Also, how can I track followers otherwise? (Like googlereader, etc)?blog: thehalcyonlife.wordpress.com

We can also install some third party visitor tracking, stats programs and counters as well, provided they are pure HTML as no javacript can be used on wordpress.com blogs. http://en.support.wordpress.com/code/
I have reviewed almost all of the third party visitor tracking programs that can be used on wordpress.com blogs. If you click on my username and type “visitor tracking” into the searchbox on my blog you will find several posts that review the features of choice you can make.
