Tracks not displayed with google maps

  Hi,

  I have problem displaying tracks with the google maps utility.

  Here is what happens:

  1. I create a public kml file to display a hike I made in my dropbox account
  2. I can display and view the track in google maps using this link:
  http://maps.google.nl/maps?q=http:%2F%2Fdl.dropbox.com%2Fu%2F758637%2Fkml%2520tracks%2F20120108%2520wekeromse%2520zand.kml&hl=nl&ll=52.102894,5.679245&spn=0.01608,0.037251&sll=52.469397,5.509644&sspn=4.270632,9.074707&vpsrc=6&t=h&z=15

  3. When displayed in google maps, I can copy the html link that then looks like this:

  4. When I paste this code in a wordpress post and submit it the link gets processed to:
  [googlemaps http://maps.google.nl/maps?q=http:%2F%2Fdl.dropbox.com%2Fu%2F758637%2Fkml%2520tracks%2F20120108%2520wekeromse%2520zand.kml&hl=nl&sll=52.469397,5.509644&sspn=4.270632,9.074707&vpsrc=6&t=h&ie=UTF8&ll=52.102486,5.677674&spn=0.011188,0.025349&output=embed&w=425&h=350]

  The problem is that in the post the map is displayed in the right location but the track is not displayed.

  Is there a solution for this?

  Hope that this can be solved. Displaying hikes on google maps in wordpress is quite difficult.

  Somebody has an idea on this? I still haven’t a good way to display tracks in wordpress without using a flash tool …

  No. Nobody has any ideas on how to do this. It does not appear to be possible. Please don’t bump threads, it’s not productive, as you can see.

  Google MAPS can be displayed. Custom overlays, like hikes, cannot be displayed here as Google Maps; you can screen shot them and display them as images.

  Please read threads a bit further. I replied to a request from timethief and waited for a reply for 4 days. Anyway, thanks for spending two minutes on this. It is clear to me wordpress is not so interested in this isue. Pity …

  Please keep in mind that for the most part this is a peer to peer forum: we volunteers are your fellow bloggers! Staff does stop in occasionally but if you want an answer to a question like this—after so many days, it should be apparent to that none of us has any advice—it is best for you to contact staff directly when they re-open on Monday.

  It looks like a problem with the way the software works, and so perhaps staff can provide a fix.
