Traction – CSS
-
I was wondering if anyone can help me.
I used CSS to get rid of the dates for the Traction theme. I followed the steps from this link:
https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/remove-dates-from-posts-in-traction?replies=6
It didn’t work. Now, my website looks kinda weird. The slider is funky, the blue thing is not there, etc. I tried restoring to the original CSS by copying and pasting the page when I clicked “view original stylesheet” but it still didn’t work.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Update: I used the restore tool to revert to my original… But I still don’t know how to get rid of those dates. Any ideas? I’m paranoid to touch anything now… =p
-
Update: I think I know what’s wrong. When I go to “view original stylesheet,” copied and pasted, and (while not editing it in any way) clicked “preview,” the slider, etc. Doesn’t look right. Has this been a problem in the past?

Hi. It looks like you are using a Premium Theme. Support for Premium Themes is provided in a special forum. Please follow the instructions here to access that forum and ask the designers themselves:
https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/wheres-the-special-premium-support-just-bought-headlines-need-help?replies=4#post-554006 -
Traction is a premium theme and the volunteers in the main forums do not have access to them. Premium themes are supported directly by staff and the theme designer and in the premium support forum. Go to appearance > themes in your dashboard and somewhere near the top is a link to the premium support forum. That is part of what you are paying for.

Hi designsimply,
Thank you, but the CSS that they provided itself is the problem. That code you provided does work. It’s just it doesn’t do me much good if the code makes everything else look messed up.
-
I just applied the code that @designsimply suggested using Firebug in Firefox, and the Web Inspector in Safari and it did not mess up anything on traction on your site.
You need to provide staff with more information past “everything else looks messed up.”

I agree that what @designsimply works.
There are two things that changed when I copy and past the entire CSS stylesheet into the CSS edit window (I thought it was okay because I don’t have a custom header?):
1. None of the blue (which can be changed to red and green) show up. i.e. The background for “Featured Articles” should be blue.
2. The background of the slider isn’t white. It blends in with the dark background which makes the text difficult to read.
3. The dark background (overall) doesn’t seem to have any texture like it should have.
And from what I can tell so far, everything else is okay.
Here are some links comparing normal vs. not normal:
Hope that helps.

You shouldn’t copy and paste the entire styesheet. See this page for an example/explanation: http://en.support.wordpress.com/editing-css/#maintaining-your-custom-header
-
I read that page prior but I didn’t upload any custom headers. Is this still applicable? They talk about an updated URL which can be found in the Media Library but I didn’t upload any header there (or anywhere).
-
It’s applicable, but it sounds like we could work on making that support document better! You never copy and paste an entire stylesheet into the CSS editor. Just add CSS for the things you want to change. For example, the code I listed above could be the only thing listed in your CSS editor and it would work to remove the date and note affect the other part of the page. Also make sure you have the “Add this” option checked below the CSS editor and not the “Start from scratch” option.

Thank you for the explanation. I had the impression that we were supposed to copy the whole thing, paste, and make changes to whatever we wished. It makes a lot more sense now.
Thank you, @designsimply and @thesacredpath, for all your patience and help!
