Traffic from Reader

When I first started blogging on WordPress with just a hundred or two followers, virtually all the traffic came from the Reader.

Two years later, with more than 2,200 wordpress.com-only followers, I get almost zero, sometimes one or two.

It’s possible that many of those people are no longer WP users. It’s possible 100-percent of the ones who do don’t like my headline or the snippet and decide to not click through.

But I see a lot of digital marketing stats in my professional life and I have a hard time believing I’m not getting at least a 1% or 2% click-through rate.

I already hate myself for writing this because it’s needy and traffic-whorish.

But I can’t lie: IF there are people who want to read, I’d really like them to. And I believe something is wrong. I don’t think everyone following is getting the feed.

Can anything be done about it?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi Matt,

When a WordPress.com follower subscribes to your blog, they can choose to get your blog updates via email instead of viewing them through the WordPress.com Reader. In that case, when they click through to read the full post it won’t show up as a referral from the Reader.

Since you’re still getting high traffic on your blog, it’s very likely that your followers are visiting the blog that way. However, if you have specific followers who aren’t seeing your posts in the Reader, please let me know their usernames and I can investigate that for you!
