Traffic going to one post
-
Hi
I have several posts on my blog on the Titanic over the past year – I am having a lot of hits in past few weeks but all traffic is going to one post in particular that I made last year and very little to my recent posts also on Titanic. I only have 2 tags on the older post – and have many more on the later ones. What can be the problem – why is this happening? ?
ThanksAngela

My hunch is that your older post has been indexed by search engines and/or linked to from other sites, while your newer posts haven’t been indexed/linked to as much yet.
Which specific tag do the posts have in common? I see you have several different tags containing Titanic.
Can you provide the full direct links for the older post that’s getting lots of traffic, and the newer posts that aren’t?

I don’t see a problem. An older post would have more links coming to it, therefore it would rank higher. What can you do? If you insist on messing with success, which is what you’re having, edit the popular post and add some Related Links at the end. This will not work as well as you think, however. I speak from experience.

Thank you for your help:
http://thesilvervoice.wordpress.com/2011/04/14/the-titanica-night-to-remember-in-mayo/ is the post that gets all the traffic.(185 out of 280 hits today for example)http://thesilvervoice.wordpress.com/2012/04/13/titanic-100we-do-not-wish-the-memory-of-this-calamity-to-be-perpetuated/ (13 hits out of 280) this is my latest post
http://thesilvervoice.wordpress.com/2012/03/20/titanic-100bi-lingual-commemorative-plaque-for-addergoole-14/ (22 hits out of 280)The only tag on the 1st post above from April 2011 was The Titanic – to which I added Titanic 100 yesterday.
The other posts are comprehensively tagged and in particular the second mentioned post is tagged with Titanic Images and Titanic pictures as these are the most popular search terms used .
I really want to drive traffic to the second post here which is the one about Titanic pictures! Thanks for your help – am not a techie!
RegardsAngela

Edit the popular post and put at the bottom: “For more recent information on the Titanic, click here” or words to that effect.

@thesilvervoice – It looks like someone may have reblogged it. I did a search for the post and found this:

Reblogging is unfortunately not opt-out in WordPress.com. So you can either take it as a compliment that someone likes your post or… I dunno what else, really!
