Traffic has stopped

    Hi all,

I started a new blog which was getting a small amount of traffic daily. However for about 2 weeks I’ve had no traffic at all. I have posted new content (not loads but the same amount as previously) and promoted it on Twitter and Facebook but have only had views from other WordPress bloggers.

Can anyone suggest why this may be please? I am new to blogging so please be gentle :)

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi there. This is just the normal ebb and flow of traffic. Posting links on social media does not guarantee people will click on them, and with as few posts as you have at the moment your site is also probably not yet properly indexed by search engines, so you shouldn’t expect huge amounts of traffic from that source at this point. (Posting regularly, around twice or more a week for a start, can speed up indexing by search engines, though it’s not an exact science.)

I see at the moment you post about twice a month and have only 16 followers. Unless you’re working every day between posts to promote your blog outside those followers, you can expect to have days go by with no one visiting. The internet simply gives preference to recent content, and if a day or two has gone by since the last post, your blog simply isn’t recent anymore (and I say this having published my last post six weeks ago ;-) ).

I’m not saying you should post more – post as regularly as you are able and as works for you – but be aware that with your current posting schedule and follower count, I’d say your traffic is fairly normal.

    Hi there,

Lovely thanks for taking the time to respond, I had just got used to having a steady flow of traffic that stopped quickly.

The info you have given me is very helpful. Thank again :)

  • Glad I could help :)
