Traffic Increase Tips/Ads for Dummies

Hi guys…I’m just trying to get my blog off the ground, and I’m curious about some easy ways to get my blog more views. I’m not an expert in HTML or anything like that, so the simpler/more effective the better.
Also, if I ever achieve any sort of readership, is it possible to use Adsense or something similiar to monetize? Thanks for any tips you can provide.

There’s lots of good advice here:
Regarding ads etc: ignore everything you read that includes the word “monetize”. It’s almost all total rubbish that is designed to relieve you of money, not earn it.

And here at wordpress.COM, advertising is not allowed. You would have to self-host a wordpress blog on a third party hosting service such as godaddy or bluehost, etc.

Unless you get thousands and thousands of hits a day, no one makes money from Adsense. Unless you get specific sponsors, then the myth of making money with Adsense is only a myth. Just work on your blog building a readership and probably one day you/we will have enough hits to justify having ads on our blogs.

As tsp said above, monetizing your blog is not allowed at WordPress.com. I suggest you pay attention to the threads you post in, because that information does not apply to WordPress.com blogs.

To be clear: WordPress.com allows making money from your blog. But most of the dodgy practices sold as “monetizing” are not permitted.
