Traffic sources
-
Hi ! Whenever I make some changes in google search console e.g. highlighting the data, I get many visitors on that day or on the next day which is very unusual. Google search console does not detect these visitors and the source. WordPress site detects number of visitors and countries but no source is shown. Some people on this forum told me that it could be visitors from other search engines. I want to ask could these be google bots too? Because this happens when I make changes in search console.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Actually, you should be able to see the source (referrers) on WordPress.com stats. It should be available here. https://wordpress.com/stats/day/referrers
Do you see anything unusual here?

Have you previously marked a referrer as spam? If you have done so, I am afraid there is no option that you can use to change that action back.
Marking as a referrer as spam remove them from that list, but continue to show their stats, as mentioned on this document.
I am also tagging the post with “modlook” for the WordPress.com staff’s attention. They will be able to check if you have marked them as spam, or what might be strange on your stats.

No i never marked anything on my site as spam..
Thank you so much for taking out time and help me.. -
Hi there,
I had a look at your stats and based on the fact that you see those spikes in traffic whenever you make changes to the Google search console it looks like it’s Googlebot crawling your site for changes.
You can read more how and when Google crawls your site:

If you have any other questions, just let me know and I’ll be happy to help.
