traffic suspicion: wow-2-zero instantly

One of the things I LOVE about WordPress is how all my posts are formatted just how the search engines like to read them.

Click on the Dashboard link, then the Blog Stats link. There you will find a wealth of information.

The big traffic graph tells you exactly how many visitors you have each day. (unique visitors maybe?) This is the first thing we all look at.

BUT down at the bottom of the page you’ll find the stats for Search Engine Terms. This is great. I know exactly how many visitors each day were referred by search engines. AND I can not only count them but I get to SEE the exact search phrase they used before landing on my page.

WELL… this is VERY important. SO I just start using those phrases more, THEN I get more visitors who searched for that phrase.

WOW! Don’t you just love WordPress!

So anyway… I’m watching my traffic graph each day, and now I suspect that the naming conventions for my posts and pages can change with new themes. Why?

It seems like every time I start switching themes the traffic falls off. Do you know anything about this?

Switching themes has absolutely no effect on your blog stats. Here’s the “lowdown” on statistics http://faq.wordpress.com/2006/02/09/questions-about-stats/
You can also add a free counter to your blog that will provide even more information http://faq.wordpress.com/2006/05/20/how-do-i-add-a-counter-using-a-widget/

Thanks for the reply. How about renaming your categories? I know I’ve seen that happen.

To edit your categories -> Dashboard – > Manage -> Categories
Categories (add new) will display – now look down the list, select the one you want to change, click “edit” and when you’re done click the “edit category” button to save the changes. :)

No. I know how to rename categories. I was just saying that renaming your categories would rename all the TAG pages that were already listed in the search engines. Thus… they would not be able to find the old tag pages.

    Thanks for your help.

Ahhh … now I get you … I’m sorry. I’m a bit tired and I guess a bit fuzzy today too but thanks for the thanks. And all my best for a blogging good time. :D

If you noticed a drop yesterday to today, they did have a stat glitch that seems to be fixed now.

I do know that a post lossing a tag doesn’t get removed from the Tag pages. Not sure about posts gaining a tag. I don’t think so though. I think they only get added over there upon first publishication. I know we’ve had people ask about deleted posts still showing up over there.
