Traffic tanks again
-
I guess that’s about it. Wish there was a way to get a better reading of the difference between WordPress traffic and other traffic.
Also we have 10,000 followers but there is no way our stats reflect that because at least 50% of our posts are just a single image that can be easily seen (and “liked”) from the Reader. It ‘s just very difficult, if not impossible, to see where your blog might rank across all the potential numbers. If we were to go by “likes” we could generally say we are doing well, but it feels like an empty, abstract way of assessing the blog’s traffic.
Bottom line is steady traffic is fun. And when it tanks, it’s not fun.
And the frustrating part is that there doesn’t seem to be a realistic way of figuring out the cause and effect.
Maybe we should just blame Google. :)

@Toemailer – I understand. It can certainly be frustrating. If a post is a single image that is only seen and “liked” from the Reader without opening the post on the Reader or on your individual blog, that “view” would not count towards your stats. We certainly don’t want your stats to tank. We’re definitely taking this into consideration as we continually develop the Reader!

I too have suddenly had a sudden drop in my views going down more than a third. It had been remaining steadily and growing in increasing numbers.
I recently had a malware problem and had this fixed.( the stats continued to grow despite the problem) It was after I had this fixed that the drop in my stats happened. I don’t know if there is any connection, and don’t know if perhaps the tracking code got broken.
I have been working quite hard to increase my traffic and have been successful at this and am discouraged at the steep drop. Thank you for any help -
