Should I transfer my domain to WordPress or map it? What is the cost? I don’t understand

It might clear the difference between the Transfer the registration and Map the domain:
1. Transfer the registration. Your domain registration and billing will be moved from your current domain provider to WordPress.com. That means in future you’ll manage all aspects of your domain here, including renewal, cancellation, or a future transfer.
2. Map the domain. Your domain registration will stay with your current provider, and you’ll point the domain to WordPress.com instead. Use this if your domain is less than 60 days old, or you have a domain extension that cannot be transferred to WordPress.com. The domain will show your WordPress.com site, and depending on how you point it here you’ll be able to set up email and manage your DNS via our domain manager, but you’ll still need to pay your current provider for the domain’s renewal every year.To map an existing domain refer to the link: https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/

Hi there,
It depends entirely on you.
If you map it, the registration will stay with your current provider, so you’ll still need to pay them each year to renew the domain, while at the same time paying us for a plan to connect the domain here.
If you transfer it, the registration itself moves to us, and the domain’s annual renewal will be included in your plan’s renewal.
We don’t sell domains as stand-alone upgrades, so whether you transfer or map, you’ll need to buy one of our paid plans from My Site ->Plans.

I’m not clear exactly what help you think we’re able to provide if the OP specifically wants to map. They need to buy a plan, add the mapping upgrade, and point the domain to us as explained in the documentation. There’s no aspect of that process that we can directly help with.

Good morning :) Thanks for getting in touch. What’s the domain in question? We aren’t able to accept transfers for every TLD that’s out there – I think that’s the best place to start with making this decision.

@kokkieh I get your point but because the query is related to the domain and I read in volunteer document https://en.support.wordpress.com/wordpress-com-volunteers/ that if the query is related to a domain for a double check modlook it. And If I lack somewhere in my answer then staff will help.

That is if it’s regarding an actual domain registration that might be expired or in redemption, where the user might be at risk of losing it if they don’t get the correct help fast. It does not apply to presales questions where someone simply asks for information about domain options on WordPress.com, nor does it apply to domain mapping questions where we have no control at all over the actual domain.
Thanks for paying attention to the volunteers page, but also spend some time looking at answers from our more experienced volunteers, and when they tag issues for staff. That will give you a better idea of when it’s truly needed.
