Tranfer Of Site via hosts
-
Hi Guys,
I have just taken on a customer @timwhitnell.co.uk and I believe he currently has a site hosted directly with you. I can’t install any backup plugins because of the hosting type. I host wordpress on a Linux server. Is there a way to transfer / backup the wordpress site?
Many thanks,
Joel Wraight

Hi @jwraight.
Without knowing the address of the site you are looking to transfer it is hard to give you specific information.
If the site is hosted here at WordPress.com, then backups are already being taken care of. From the Backups section of the Export support page:
If your blog is hosted here at WordPress.com, we handle all necessary backups. If a very large meteor were to hit all the WordPress.com servers and destroy them beyond repair, all of your data would still be safe and we could have your blog online within a couple of days (after the meteor situation died down, of course).
You are also able to manually run the export function to backup your content. Using the export tool will create a .zip file that contains your posts, pages, comments, categories, and tags.
You can find information at the Moving a Blog support page for more information about transferring sites between hosts if that is the way you decide to go.
