Tranfering a blog to an existing adress
-
I have a blog on this adress:
http://dewnestry.wordpress.com/
I also have an inactive blog on this site:
http://talkohen.wordpress.com/If I wanted to transfer the first blog to the second adress – including all its subscribers, settings, posts, pages and comments (emphasising the subscribers) – would it be possible?
I know I already asked this question but at the time subscribers didn’t seem important, but they obviously are. It seems rather odd to me that such a thing is not possible.

Yes and no.
Yes you can export all content out of one blog and import into the other blog. See here > http://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog/#moving-between-wordpress-com-blogs
No you cannot “move” subscribers. Unless there’s some unique new way to do this that I am unaware of. -
If I transfer my blog to another adress, it transfer the subscribers too.
But if I transfer only the content, it doesn’t.What I need is a way to transfer my blog to an adress in which I already have a blog, and ‘override’ the other blog.
Is there a way to do that? Or to delete the blog and make its adress available?

Would changing an address work? Nothing is said about subscribers and at one point says “unused name” so not sure if the transfer would work to a name that is already registered.

Might be a good question for the staff.

Changing the adress would transfer the subscribers, but I can’t change the adress to an one in which I already have a blog. And if I delete the blog, it blocks the adress.

Please contact Staff. Here’s the link http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/ After you use the searchbox at the bottom of the page there will be a section that says “Have you found the answer to your question?” You can choose either “Yes I found the answer to my question.” or “No I didn’t find the answer to my question and I would like to contact support for help.” The no option will reveal the contact form.

Will you please return to this thread and post the answer Staff give you so the next time this question is asked we Volunteers have the answer and can share it?

Frankly, the question was hypothetical. I’m considering changing the blog’s address and I wanted to know what my options were. I prefer not to contact stuff before I know exactly what I want.

This is my own POV.
Your blog is indexed by Google (187 results).
Your blog is indexed by Bing (7 results).
I would never change URLs and break links. That’s what happens when you do what you have proposed. If you move that content from one blog on a WordPress.com sub domain into another blog on another WordPress.com sub domain every one of the original links will be broken, and produce a 404 when they are clicked. It takes 3 – 6 months for Google to clear their cache. During that whole time the indexed posts with the broken URLs will appear in search results and if clicked you will be losing the traffic your blog could have had. We have recently had a blogger who did not understand this aspect and who did this and broke every link. She now regrets what she did. -
I agree, but I did want to know my options.
Even though, I had doubts, but you convinced me. I won’t change the address.
Thanks. -
