Tranferring blog to another user

  Another user is trying to transfer their blog name to me, but the blog name doesn’t show on their “my sites” list as indicated in the instructions for this process. When I go to her site (<name>.wordpress.com) it clearly shows as belonging to her, and she knows she set the site up but can’t see it, now.

  She has contacted support, but no reply. Can anyone offer help on this? How can we get WordPress technical attention to this issue?

  Hi Andy,

  Can you please let me know what blog you’re getting to have transferred to you? I can use that information to track down the blog owner (and their support request) as well as figure out what’s happened to the blog itself.

  Hi Rachel,

  Thank you so much for the offer of assistance. Sorry it took so long for me to respond.

  I posted a note on the web site (WITWIA.wordpress.com), and Amy replied immediately. She graciously helped to overcome some technical obstacles with the help of someone in tech support, and I now own the wordpress blog page. It’s active, but still very much a work in progress!

  Can you recommend a self-help program for me to learn how to best structure and use the site? I’m a premium member for WITWIA, and want to make it a really “primo” site. I’m technically competent, but don’t know much about WordPress … YET!

  Hi Andy,

  I’m so glad you were able to get the blog transferred. :) For learning how to set up and use your new site, I’d recommend a few different resources:

  • Learn WordPress.com is a tutorial that goes through some of the most common steps for getting your site started.
  • The Daily Post is a blog that has all sorts of tips for setting up your site, blogging, connecting with other bloggers, etc.
  • WordPress.com Support has details about many of the features at WordPress.com, which you can browse or search.

  You may also want to check out Blogging University — you can join in an upcoming course or browse past courses on a variety of blogging-related topics.
