    Hi! I am registered with Namecheap for the next 3 years for my domain name. If I am right, if i want to map this domain to WordPress, would have to ad on the top of my monthly fee 17$ per year, correct?
    And if i want to do a transfer, what are the costs engaged since I have paid already for the next 3 years to Namecheap?

    Hi there,

    With what site do you want to use your domain? You don’t currently have any sites on WordPress.com.

    If you want to use that domain with a site hosted on WordPress.com, you will need a paid plan with us. Note that all our plans are billed for a full year, or two years in advance, at the time of purchase.

    You have two options for using the domain here:

    You can leave the domain registered at Namecheap and just connect it here using domain mapping. There is no limit on the number of domains you can map, and there’s no additional cost for this on top of your plan.

    Or you can use the one free domain included in the plan to transfer your domain registration to us (your domain will have to be registered for at least 60 days before you can do this). As part of the transfer your domain will be renewed for an additional year, so the next renewal payment for your domain will only be due in four years’ time.

    Thanks for your help Kokkieh. To answers your questions and clarify;
    I am planning to create a site hosted by WP. I want to keep my domain registered at Namecheap and do a domain mapping.
    So If i am correct, it’s free as you said if i subscribe for a plan, like the Personal. But If I want to start very simple the first few months with a Free version, Do I have still the opportunity to do a domain mapping? It’s written :

    “Map your domain without moving it from your current registrar.
    ………. C$17.00 per year plus registration costs at your current provider”

    It’s unclear to me in which circumstance I would be charge this money.

    Just you know, if I am logged in, I can’t see this sentence on the page I provided you with the link:

    “C$17.00 per year plus registration costs at your current provider”

    Only If i am not logged in to my newly created WP account, I can see this written mention. It’s a little confusing.

    Using a custom domain requires a paid plan, the additional prices are for additional domains.

    Each paid plan comes with one free domain registration, transfer, or mapping.

    So, if you want to start simple, but also use a custom domain, I recommend the Personal Plan, you can upgrade at any time if needed: https://wordpress.com/pricing/
