Hi there, pointing a custom domain to your current free WordPress.com website and having it as the Primary site address is included in any WordPress.com upgrade plan, including the Personal plan:

    Here’s more on that: https://wordpress.com/support/domains/connect-existing-domain/

All WordPress.com upgrade plans come with extras, like removing advertising from your site, direct support either by email or LiveChat (depending on plan), extra storage space for your Media, etc. You can see the full list of plan features on the Pricing page at https://wordpress.com/pricing/

If instead you are hosting an install of the WordPress open source software https://wordpress.org/ with another hosting provider, like Pressable, Dreamhost or SiteGround, you would need to contact their support team directly to get the information you need for connecting your GoDaddy domain to a site hosted on their servers.

More on the differences between WordPress.com (where we are) and the open source WordPress software can be found in this guide: https://wordpress.com/support/com-vs-org/

I hope that helps answer your question, but please post back here if you have more.

  • Thank you Jen!

@gtcsconsulting I want to point out too that our WordPress hosting is managed. We provide maintenance, security, backups, spam filtering, and a bunch of other services you don’t get with the software or most other hosting plans. And, our paid plans include direct WordPress support. We’re happy to answer any question you have.
