Transfer a domain I just canceled (need to get it back first?)

Hi! I’m transferring my wordpress.com website to Bluehost, and would like to keep the domain that I had (anakalabina.com); I have just cancelled my wrodpress.com plan, but stupidly didn’t keep the domain, and now Blue Host doesn’t let me re-purchase it because it still shows up as active on WordPress.com. Do I need to wait to re-purchase the domain through Blue Host, or can I re-purchase it through wordpress.com and transfer to Blue host?

Canceling a domain does not make it immediately available to repurchase elsewhere. Here are the available options for you:
Repurchase the Domain: We can send an invoice and restore the domain. You’ll be able to point it to a new host as soon as it’s restored, then transfer the registration after 60 days.
Repurchase a Plan: To host your site here, buy an annual plan, skip the domain option, and update us here.

You bet @annakalabina. One other option we didn’t mention: since the domain was just recently registered, it’ll be held for a few days then released, so if you decide you want it after all, it should be available soon. Cheers!
