Transfer a domain onto wordpress

  I am trying to start up a blog , i have bought a domain from fast hosts and would like to use this domain on my wordpress. I am confused as to how to do this and i keep hearing about finding a site which can host my blog for me. Is word press able to host it for me. Are the upgrade packages equivalent to hosting?

  You can map the domain to your wordpress.com subdomains. Details below

  Hi there,

  Just to add some extra info: To connect a domain you already own to your site you will first need to purchase a plan at My Site ->Plans. This isn’t payment for hosting. Hosting is free on WordPress.com. But plans add optional extra features to your site, like adding a custom domain.

  After adding the plan you can add the domain mapping upgrade, as explained in the link above.
