    Hey there!

Themes purchased at WordPress.com are usable on WordPress.com sites only. If you’ve moved to a self-hosted instance of WordPress on GoDaddy, you’ll need to upload the theme of your choice there.

I took a look for a WordPress.org-usable version of basis and found the following:

    https://thethemefoundry.com/wordpress-themes/basis/

I hope this helps! If you have any other concerns, drop me a note. Thanks much!

Does this mean I’m hooped and that my theme can not be uploaded to where I’m hosting even though it is a WordPress hosting site?

Your link to thefoundary does not help at all as there is no way to get help

This is incredibly frustrating, When I bought the theme no indication o this was given, Now I have to use another theme While i paid good money for this one. I think this is unacceptable

    Hey John,

I can understand your frustration. Here’s an explanation of the situation that might clear up some things:

Self-hosting and the costs/downloads/software/management that are necessary to run your site, are entirely disconnected from us at WordPress.com. We don’t profit from self-hosted sites, and we can’t help support them because we have no access to your files once you leave our servers at WordPress.com.

While I can help with theme-related issues on WordPress.com sites, I can’t be of assistance with any templates you use in a self-hosted instance. For help in this area, you’ll need to work with the theme developer directly.

The upside of moving to a self-hosted WordPress.org site is that you have more freedom to install plugins, edit your HTML and other code, utilize analytic software, etc…the downside is that moving off our server means you are “on your own” when it comes to support.

Here’s where I can help: If you are not planning on using your theme at WordPress.com, I am more than happy to cancel it for you, and refund you the purchase cost. Then, you can apply it to your purchase of Basis with Theme Foundry. As I said, they are not a WordPress.com company, so I can’t support their software. You mentioned that you didn’t see a way to get help on Theme Foundry’s site, but I took a look and found their support page for you:

    Support

Let me know if you’d like me to cancel/refund Basis here at WordPress.com. If I can ever help with a WordPress.com-related issue, I’m always happy to assist.

    Thank you!

    Hi There,
    Thanks for the response
I’m looking for the easiest way to get my website live?
Can I transfer my Domain to WordPress for hosting in order to avoid working on Go Daddy with a new theme.

How would I go about affecting this?

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hi again, John,

While we register new domains here at WordPress.com, we’re not able to accept incoming transfers of existing domain names. Therefore, we recommend that you keep the name registered at your current registrar. You can use the domain for your site here at WordPress.com by mapping the domain, as explained here:

    http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/

If you have any other questions, please let us know. Take care!

    Hi There,

I have mapped my domain, but I am not able to view my page.
Can not figure out why it is not coming up.
My hosting company thinks the issue is on your side, not sure if I made a mistake in mapping the domain, can somebody assist me please?

    Hi again!

If you would like your GoDaddy domain to map with your WordPress.com site, you will need its name servers to point to our servers.

Right now, you domain’s name servers are:

    ns49.domaincontrol.com
    ns50.domaincontrol.com

You will need to log into your control panel at GoDaddy and change the name servers to:

    ns1.wordpress.com
    ns2.wordpress.com
    ns3.wordpress.com

GoDaddy’s support page that will lead you through their process is here:

    https://support.godaddy.com/help/article/12317/setting-custom-nameservers-for-domains-registered-with-us?locale=en

Once that’s complete, it can take up to 72-hours for a domain to propagate throughout the internet. Once this is done, everything will work properly.

Please let us know if you have any other questions. Thanks much!
