Transfer a username to someone else?

I made a blog for an upcoming work project (arcticft) and figured I’d create another while I was at it (kitsilva). This one was going to be used for personal, non work-related stuff. I created it using the arcticft username as the main account.

Unfortunately, I think I made a mistake; I thought I’d only get the kitsilva address, but it looks like I also registered the kitsilva username. Well, I tried to log in using kitsilva and the site tells me the username does not exist!

Is there any way for me to register the kitsilva username, AND give that same user the site address? I read that once a wordpress.com site is deleted, it cannot be reused… and I don’t want to delete it, just create the kitsilva username AND a name.

I should’ve thought things through before doing this. Sorry. :(

What you can do is create another account, but not make a new blog (you will need a different email address for it. The following support document talks about how to do it in the second section: http://support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog/ .

If you tried to log in using that user name and the user name doesn’t exist, then you didn’t get the user name! Someone can still claim it. So it seems to me that you should have the person you intend to transfer the site to claim the name while it is still available. Then you can add that person as an admin to that blog. Once that is done, contact staff about removing you as administrator.

vivianpaige, I tried to register that name, but WordPress says that it’s already in use! I don’t know why it’s doing that. :
