Transfer a wordpress.com blog to a proper hosted one?

  Hi, just wondering if I have to do a lot of cutting and pasting to transfer blog posts to a dedicated site. Is there a .sql file or ftp access where I can get the texts? I’d like to add a few pages on the new site, like a download page and such.

  Use the import/export functions. go to you blog Admin => Manage => Export and download the file on your wordpress.com hosted blog. Head then to your new install of wordpress on another host and go to your Admin => Manage => Import and choose the file you got from the Export process.
