To clarify, it is not possible to transfer a domain without first purchasing one of our plans listed here: https://wordpress.com/pricing/
Is it possible you made your purchase under a different login? What is the the domain you are trying to transfer, and what is the current URL of the WordPress.com site you are trying to apply that domain to? We may be able to find your account based on those details, thanks!

@petraepg – After looking closer at your account I was able to see a domain that you previously owned was cancelled in early January of this year. It has since been deleted from the registry and should be available for purchase again very soon.
I recommend checking daily to try to purchase the domain as soon as it becomes available. Let us know if you have any other questions about this. :)
