Transfer an already used blog

    Hi,

    My name is Andy and I am currently working for my nonprofit network “GAYL Südtirol”. I’d like to start my own blog/website using WordPress. But I would need this domain/blog:
    gayl.wordpress.com

    As you see, this blog is already owned by somebody, but the blog is inactive!! I already tried to contact the blog owner via comments, but I haven’t got an answer. For me, this definitely looks like the blog owner is not using his blog anymore (and neither the email address linked to his blog- otherwise he/she would have received a notification email).

    He/she started to blog in 2008 and there is no blog entry. Well, there is a header but that’s all.

    You would really help me as this charity network means a lot to me and I would like to appear more serious (gayl01.wordpress.com doesn’t look quite serious, huh?) With your help you contribute for a better and more tolerantly world and at least my small community would thank you very much.

    I know, that there is no official way for transferring an already used domain, but this is really inactive and I am not able to reach to the owner. And the official support here on WordPress is not available for me (only for users with paid upgrades), so I am trying my luck here in the forums. Maybe you can contact the owner for me?

    I would really appreciate your help.

    You cannot register a blog URL that has already been registered. There is no expiration date on .wordpress.com blogs unused, reserved or otherwise. If you can make contact on your own with the owner of an unused blog via a contact form or commenting, then providing the are agreeable there is a means of a consenting blog owner to transfer the blog to another username account. http://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog/#transferring-your-blog-to-another-user-or-account

    In the case that there is no contact information Staff will not breach the privacy policy and provide you with an email address.

    If you are not successful, you can register another blog with a similar name. http://en.support.wordpress.com/register-a-blog/

    Or you can register a domain via a domain mapping upgrade and it will not matter what the underlying .wordpress.com address is.

    These are our support options http://en.support.wordpress.com/help-support-options/ And, contacting Staff will not change the answer I already provided above. In fact doing that now will simply be a waste of your time and Staff time.
