transfer an existing domain to wordpress.com

My domain wild-places.com is mapped to my old website at t-online. I would like to cancel my t-online site and transfer the domain to wordpress.com and map it to my new website/blog at wordpress.com.
How do I do this?
Blog url: http://wildplacesdotnet.wordpress.com/The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

You can’t transfer domain registration to WordPress.COM they are not set up to do that – you can map your domain name to a blog here

Thanks for the answer. If I would just map the domain as described in the link, I could not cancel the old website and still would have to pay for the other site without using it anymore. This makes no sense.
There have to be other soltutions.
Can I transfer the domain to a cheap third party domain provider and then map it afterwards to my wordpress.com site?
If this is possible, do you have any recommendations, who is providing this service (and is cheap and reliable)?
