Transfer blog

So I bought a domain through 1and1.com, and have hosting at go-daddy, and I would like to transfer the content on amerituner.wordpress.com to amerituner.com… When I export the files in the old blog and try to import it to the new it acts supper goofy. In the dashboard it says I have 49 post, but on the front page nothing shows.

It looked great when I first imported the files then it acted up and I can not figure out at all whats going on.

If I have to I will reload all the media and re-write the posts but I would rather not.

    Any help is appreciated.

    Anton

We Volunteers cannot help with this import issue. I believe you need to contact Staff. Here’s the link http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/ After you use the searchbox, under the search results, at the bottom of the page there will be a section that says “Have you found the answer to your question?” You can choose either “Yes I found the answer to my question.” or “No I didn’t find the answer to my question and I would like to contact support for help.” The no option will reveal the contact form.

    Support is open again…
I’ll leave the modlook on but you’re best of contacting them directly.

  • Your export file appears to be good. Since http://amerituner.com/ is a self-hosted WordPress.org blog, we can really only guarantee the quality of our export file.

You might want to try exporting again, just to be sure that you didn’t get a bad copy.

To clear up any confusion, WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two different entities.

WordPress.org has complete support and documentation sites for self-hosted/installed versions of WordPress via their Codex and Support Forums.

    Thanks guy and girls,

I realize that wordpress.com and wordpress.org are tow separate things but are they separate like Chevy and Buick which are both owned and GM made, or are they completely different like Chevy and Ford.

I will look at the WordPress.org side to see what I can come up with.
