transfer blog — no confirmation email
-
Hi there,
tried to transfer blog page to a new domain name/admin user but never received the confirmation email. Doesnt appear with new admin but also not accessible via the old admin anymore, so cant resend the transfer.
This is the relevant site: trustrootsnetwork.wordpress.com/
Any idea what i could do? Thanks in advance
-
Can you confirm the email address for the account you’re trying to transfer to? We’ll take a look.
-
Thank you for your quick response. I tried to transfer to the following username: admin4694
-
It looks like the transfer worked; we’re not seeing any sites associated with your account now! The only thing the
admin4694account will need to do now is add payment information if there is any active plan which needs renewing in the near future – there’s some info about that here:
https://wordpress.com/support/manage-purchases/ -
Thanks for the feedback. Yes I think the transfer worked but I cant seem to see it on my admin4694 account and didnt receive the confirmation email. Where may i find access?
Thanks again for your help

Hi there,
I can confirm that on our end we see that
admin4694is the owner of record for trustrootsnetwork.wordpress.com and your current accounttrustrootsnetworkhas been removed as the owner and no longer has access to the site. Thanks for the feedback. Yes I think the transfer worked but I cant seem to see it on my admin4694 account and didnt receive the confirmation email. Where may i find access?
It sounds like you may not have signed out as
trustrootsnetworksince you should not see that under this account. I see you are using Firefox as your browser currently, so to avoid any confusion I’d like you to confirm under a different browser. Can you try either Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge (Internet Explorer) and visit this link:
- Be sure to sign in as
admin4694using the password you set for that account - You should see trustrootsnetwork.wordpress.com listed here: https://wordpress.com/sites/
Hope that helps. Please let us know if you have any more questions.

unfortunately that didnt work either. I dont seem to be able to log in to my admin via the normal login link provided above – only via the link my server provider has given me http://www.trustrootsnetwork.org/wp-admin/
the server provider ovh though says there is no issue on his end. Once logged in the that link with admin 4694 the transferred site is not visible. anything else i can do?
-
It sounds like there are a couple of different things going on here, let’s check up on the status.
So, a few things to note:
- Your WordPress.com account (with the username trustrootsnetwork) does indeed not have any sites associated with it now.
- Your other WordPress.com account (admin4694) now manages this site
trustrootsnetwork.wordpress.com– so if you log in on WordPress.com using that account, you can managetrustrootsnetwork.wordpress.com. - The domain name
trustrootsnetwork.orghas a “connection” prepared here on WordPress.com (which you had set up) but that domain name is not pointing to our servers – it’s not pointing towardstrustrootsnetwork.wordpress.com. - If
trustrootsnetwork.orgis working as you’d expect when you go to http://www.trustrootsnetwork.org/wp-admin/ that means that it uses the WordPress software which originates from WordPress.org – that isn’t the same thing as WordPress.com. We (that is: WordPress.com) are a host, similar to OVH.- As additional information, there are two ways to use WordPress, you can either use the WordPress software downloaded from WordPress.org onto a web host (also known as self-hosted), or you may host your site with us here at WordPress.com. You can learn more about the differences between WordPress.com and WordPress.org here:

Thank you for this helpful explanation.
To transfer the site i used this guide: https://wordpress.com/support/transferring-a-site-to-another-wordpress-com-account/ but just never received the confirmation email
I am not able to see the trustroootsnetwork.wordpress.com access in my backend for admin4694
any idea on how to resolve this ie get the above site on to trustrootsnetwork.org would be much appreciated!

On our end I can confirm that the account @admin4694 has not seen any recent login activity. To clarify, you are referring to an account you have with us here on WordPress.com? Or is this something you are checking on through your OVH site. Can you share the URL of the place you are looking so we can visit and try to see it as you do?
Thanks for the additional info!

I dont really understand the question. It may be an account with wordpress.org – not sure what the difference is? I login through the site OVH provides: http://www.trustrootsnetwork.org/wp-admin But cant seem to see any other sites asssociated to the admin through that.

Thanks, I understand. It’s worth knowing that when you log in to http://www.trustrootsnetwork.org/wp-admin (your site at OVH which uses the WordPress software) then it’s normal that you don’t see anything relating to “.wordpress.com” sites – they’re two separate non-connected systems; so it’s normal that you don’t have access to the “.wordpress.com” side of things.
The important part is that you can log in to http://www.trustrootsnetwork.org/wp-admin as normal, and that your administrator account(s) can manage the site. Any changes made here on WordPress.com do not affect http://www.trustrootsnetwork.org at all! The guide for transferring site ownership specifically refers to sites that are hosted here on WordPress.com, but would not be relevant for any site hosted at OVH.
It seems like you created a similarly-named
admin4694account here on WordPress.com too, but that means it’s a separate non-connected account on WordPress.com, which has the same username as as your second administrator account at OVH. -
So how could i gain access to that “other ” admin ive created? i dont seem to be receiving a password reset email when i try to reset that. What do you mean by “second administrator account at OVH”? Is there any way you can help me gain access to the transferred site even if i cant access the alternate admin4694 account?
-
To avoid confusion, there are three different “WordPress” at play here:
- The free, open-source WordPress software which powers your website.
- WordPress.org which is the open-source project that works on the WordPress software and where you can get the software for free to use on your own hosting provider.
- WordPress.com which is a managed hosting provider of the WordPress software and with whom you’re contacting now.
Before we proceed, we do need to clarify a few things with you:
- Your WordPress website at https://trustrootsnetwork.wordpress.com/ is hosted here at WordPress.com
- The WordPress site at http://www.trustrootsnetwork.org/ is hosted with OVH.
- As these are two different and separate websites, you can’t change something here at WordPress.com and expect it to impact the site at OVH.
It sounds like you wanted to export your site content to OVH, not transfer it to another WordPress.com account. All you did here was change the owner of https://trustrootsnetwork.wordpress.com/ from yourself to the WordPress.com user account admin4694.
If you’re trying to log into your site via http://www.trustrootsnetwork.org/wp-admin and expect to see the content currently at https://trustrootsnetwork.wordpress.com/, unless you exported your content from here and imported it to your new site, you won’t see anything.
Is this correct?
If so, you need to create an Export of your trustrootsnetwork.wordpress.com site, save that export file, log into your trustrootsnetwork.org site, and run the WordPress Import tool to import that content.
So how could i gain access to that “other ” admin ive created? i dont seem to be receiving a password reset email when i try to reset that.
What email address did you use to set that up? If you didn’t own the WordPress.com user account admin4694 (which is NOT the same as the account you set up on the OVH site) when you transferred it, we’ll have to go through the account recovery process so you can prove ownership of the trustrootsnetwork.wordpress.com site and regain that access from your trustrootsnetwork account.
I know that was a lot of information, but if you can confirm what it is you’re trying to accomplish when this is all said and done, we’ll be better able to advise.
Thanks!

Hi thank you so much for outlining all that. Yes i think i basically tried to transfer and should have exported and now need to recover access to that site because I dont think i actually created an account with admin4694 ie dont have an email associated with it/dont know how to access that admin if not through the OVH site linked to trustrotsnetwork.com – So I guess now the question is: How do I prove ownership?
-
So I guess now the question is: How do I prove ownership? Our account recovery process is outlined on this page:
-
@trustrootsnetwork please don’t submit the account recovery form. I discussed the matter with our Trust and Safety team and we’re able to switch the site ownership back to you.
The process will take a short while, but I’ll update the post when it’s been completed.
Thanks!
-
Thanks for your patience. I’ve restored ownership of trustrootsnetwork.wordpress.com to your account. You can now run that export and import that file into your new WordPress installation at OVH.
I hope that helps!
