I have a private blog and would like it to not be associated with my current account anymore.. I’d like to set up a separate wordpress account for it. Is there any way to do that and keep the URL?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

That’s nice, but it’s totally unrelated to the first person’s issue and so it belongs in a different thread.

As to the original question, you just create a new WordPress ID and then your first ID invites the second one to be Admin of that blog. Simple.

Thanks, but I’m still confused about how to create a new WordPress ID when I want to use the old URL. Do I have to create a new URL just to get a new login, and then just don’t use that new URL?

No, you log out, then sign up for an account as if you were a brand new user. Be sure and select the option “Just give me a username” not the “New Blog” one. Then your first identity Invites your second to be an Admin on that blog.

Ah, great, thanks so much for clarifying.

Ok, did that, but now that the two IDs are both administrator, I don’t see how to remove my first ID as administrator of the blog – I don’t want this blog to be associated with that ID at all.

When we register a username account here the email address we provide becomes our unique identifier. When we are logged into WordPress.com and register a blog it’s registered to that username account we are logged in under and to the email address which is our unique identifier. We can register as many blogs as we wish and provided we are using the same username account then all the blogs will be registered under it and the associated email account. We can change our “display name” but that display name will appear on all blogs registered under the same username account.

In order to completely separate the blogs that you do not want to be associated with each other you register another username account using a different email address when you are logged out of WordPress.com. http://en.support.wordpress.com/register-a-blog/ Then you add the new username account as an official user of the blog, and designate them (ie. you) as an Admin. Next you transfer one of the blogs to the new username account using this process. http://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog/#transferring-your-blog-to-another-user-or-account

Well, for one thing you’ll have to edit all the posts and change the author if it’s a theme that displays the author.

Other than that, it’s not such a big deal as nobody but you can see who is associated with that blog as Admin. But only staff can remove the ID who created this blog, so I’ll flag this so they can do that.
