transfer blog to new owner, but keep my post authorship
-
I need help to transfer my blog to new owner. I do know where and how to do this within the WP.COM system. However, I have a key issue. Since starting the blog about 12 years ago, I’ve written a LOT of posts. I will remain an administrator on the blog and want to retain authorship of these posts, but another admin has agreed to become the owner.
So the question is, HOW do I retain authorship of my many posts since I will remain an administrator. There must be some way to do this.
Huge thank you for the key to solving this mystery!

Hi there!
Transferring ownership of the site would remove you as an Administrator and impact your older posts. I would recommend just adding the new administrator to your site which won’t affect your existing posts and administrator status:

If you had a specific reason that you needed to transfer ownership, could you give us more information into what you want the new owner to be able to do and we can better advise?
Thanks!

Thank you for response … I have retired from MANAGEMENT of the blog and it has been taken over by a colleague. However, I will stay involved, will act as assistant (when needed) and will stay on as administrator.
I want all “business” messages from WP.COM to be directed to the new owner for decision-making. That includes WP informative emails and requests for annual billing for the account. At the same time, I want to retain authorship of the many posts I’ve written.
It seems a bit incredible to me that I would “disappear” from the blog if I just transfer the ownership to someone else. The new owner wasn’t even on board the blog when I started it, yet the ownership change would include his name as author of all my posts?? It would be impossible for him to have written the posts for the first 5 years! Why would ownership change necessitate that authorship be transferred also??? There MUST be some workaround.

Our site transfer process was not designed for multiple-administrator setups, which is why we advise that your account is removed from the site upon transfer here:
However, I’m looking through the site’s logs and it looks like there was a number of blog owner changes made back in September 2020 – including removing you as owner and being added back on as a regular administrator (not the owner).
Since you’re currently not the owner of this site, you shouldn’t need to do anything regarding your site or account settings.
If you still need help, can give us more information into which user needs ownership access and we’ll be better able to advise. Thanks!

Can you tell me why I continue to receive the emails about site status and annual billing? Where can I find the info that shows the change of ownership and the name/email of the new owner (Doug Short). I am afraid that he is not receiving the WP emails and it’s nearing time to renew the “personal” billing level. Thank you.

The Personal plan for docentsncma.wordpress.com won’t expired until October 14, so there’s plenty of time to sort this out. :)
The logs on the ownership changes are on our end, but you would have received an email when the transfer was completed.
Doug Short is indeed the current owner of the site. Would you like the Personal plan transferred to his account?
-
Yes, please transfer the Personal account to his name, Doug Short, and remove my name from receiving emails regarding the account. Please confirm and THANK YOU

I’ve transferred the Personal plan to Doug as requested. Let us know if you need anything else!

@suzboswell – also advise Doug that he will need to update the payment information on the plan as that did not transfer over. He can find that under his account page here:

I hope that helps!
