Transfer Code Request Problem

    On February 9, 2016 I requested a transfer code to provide to my current registrar. I went through the steps of Disabling Domain Locking and Disabling Private Registration in Domain Management. After requesting the transfer code, a status message indicated that an email was sent to the Domain Registrant’s contact email address. I have been checking that email account’s Inbox and Spam filter every day since February 9 which is now more than three days. I still have not received the email with the Domain Transfer Code. I assume there is a problem but I have had no contact from WordPress indicating as such. How do I find out if there is a problem? Should I request the transfer code again?

    Hi there!

    Your transfer code should be sent very soon after you request it. If you don’t see it right away, be sure to check your spam filter or other folders as our emails can sometimes get caught up there.

    You may also need to check that email on file for your domain name is correct. It may not be the same as the email address associated with your WordPress.com account. Here is some information on how to do that:

    You should also check your My Domains page at https://wordpress.com/my-domains to check on the status of your transfer. If you’ve already started the domain transfer process from your new domain registrar, it may already be in process since the domain name has been unlocked. If so, you may have the option to Accept the transfer from within your dashboard.

    I was diligent in checking the spam folder and prior to requesting the code I checked that the email on file for my domain name was correct. Also the domain status page said that the code was sent however it was not received.

    I decided to request the code be resent tonight. This time I received it immediately. I still don’t know why it didn’t come the first time. In any case, the problem is resolved. I received the code and initiated the transfer. Thank you very much for your support.
