Transfer Domain

  Hello, I have having some difficulty with how a domain can be transferred. Currently, I own domain http://gentlemenstandard.com/. with WordPress.com. I have been working on an alternate site http://gentlemenstandard.org/ with WordPress.org and I am in the process of moving over content from the first site. After my content has been moved, how can I change the URL http://gentlemenstandard.org/ to http://gentlemenstandard.com. I really like the .com extension. I would still like to keep the gentlemenstandard.wordpress.com, set it to private, and redirect traffic to the self-hosted site. Can someone please tell me how this can be done? I’ve looked at many tutorials and nothing is really clear.

  Hi 76classic,

  Yes, that can most certainly be done!

  If you’d like to move your domain to your WordPress.org site, you’ll have to change your nameservers to that of your WordPress.org host. Here’s a support article that shows you how:
  http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/change-name-servers/

  You’ll then have to purchase the Site Redirect upgrade, to get your old WordPress.com site to redirect to your new one.
