Transfer domain

I had a free blog with .wordpress.com in it. I wanted to update to my own domain without “.wordpress.com” in it so i can monetize it while keeping the website the exact same. If someone was to google my site, they would see the old website that i had with .wordpress.com in it except the URL would be a little different. Also, i want search engines to take users to the same old site except with a slightly URL. Currently, it shows i have two websites (one with .wordpress.com in it which i want to keep and one with my new URL which has nothing on it). How can i make the transfer so the old website has the self hosted domain name of the new one?

I will need a bit more information from you. Did you register your domain through a different domain registrar such as GoDaddy or Bluehost?
Typically to upgrade from the free hosting provided by WordPress.com to the same domain without the .wordpress.com extension it would have removed it automatically.
Could you also link both of those websites so I can do a bit more research.
