Transfer domain

I need immediate assistance transferring my name from Wild West domains, under the controls of WordPress.com to another company, as my domain has expired and my website is down.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi there,

Your domain expired on 2 June and is currently in Redemption with our registrar. This means they are preparing to delete the domain and release it so anyone can register it again.

It is not possible to transfer a domain once it enters redemption, as you no longer own the domain at this point. You will need to recover it from redemption and renew it before you will be able to transfer it.

Our registrar charges a $80 fee to restore a domain from redemption, in addition to the $18 to renew the domain. If you agree to pay the recovery fee, let me know and I will send you an email with a payment link so we can start the recovery process.

Yes, please, whatever I need to do at this point to get it back.
I love how your registrar claims there is absolutely nothing they can do to remedy the situation, yet, the answer to the situation lies with the registrar.
Once this process is done, will I then be able to transfer the domain out of the control of WordPress/Wild West domains?

  • The registrar can’t act directly in this case – as the domain was registered through us, until the domain is deleted completely it can only be restored to our system and not directly to you.

Once the domain is restored and renewed you will again be the owner and can do with it whatever you want, including transferring it away.

I’ve sent you an email with a payment link. Once we receive payment we can contact the registrar to restore the domain.

The invoice has been paid. How long can I expect that this process will take?

  • I just replied to you via email. The process typically takes around two days, but we’ll let you know once we hear back from the registrar.
